JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Indonesian Air Force’s (TNI AU) Hercules cargo aircraft crashed into residential areas near Polonia Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, shortly after taking off from said airport on Tuesday (June 30) afternoon.
Spokesperson of the Indonesian military Maj. Gen. Fuad Basya has confirmed the crash. According to Fuad, the Commander of the military General Moeldoko even has ordered the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) to launch investigation.
Fuad, however, said the TNI have no information yet about the details of the incident, including the cause of the crash.
In the meantime, local media in Medan reported that the victims of the incident have been brought to the Adam Malik General Hospital (RSUP). But the number of the victims is remain unknown at the moment. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
