JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Rusli Sibua, the Regent of Morotai (North Maluku), as suspect related to bribery scandal of post-election dispute implicating Akil Mochtar, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) and graft convict.
KPK acting deputy chief Johan Budi SP revealed the KPK’s decision on naming Rusli as suspect in the case is accordance to the issuance of a Sprindik (letter ordering investigation) dated Jun. 25, 2015.
According to Johan, KPK alleged Rusli for bribing Akil related to the handling of Morotai post-election dispute in the MK back in 2011.
Rusli Sibua has been charged with Article 6 paragraph 1 letter a of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
Rusli along with his running mate Weni Paraisu lead Morotai regency after the MK determined the pair as the winner of the 2011 Morotai election. The pair was supported by a coalition of SBY’s Democratic Party and Golkar Party. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
