JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Spokesperson of the Supreme Court (MA) has confirmed on Wednesday (June 24) that the court had revoked former Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah’s right to be elected to public position.
The decision, according to Suhadi, is already stipulated in the court ruling No. 285 K/Pid.Sus/2015 dated Feb. 23, 2015.
As reported earlier, in the same court ruling, the Supreme Court had also given heavier jail term for the key leader of Golkar Party from four to seven years imprisonment. In addition, the court also ordered Atut to pay Rp200 million in fine or serve six months additional jail term.
Previously, the Jakarta Corruption Court had proven Atut as guilty on bribing Akil Mochtar, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and former Golkar lawmaker, related to the handling of post-election dispute of Lebak Regency. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
