JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Celanese Corporation, a global technology and specialty materials company and a global leader in vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE) emulsions, cancels its plan to invest US$1.5 billion in Indonesia.

Earlier it plans to build coal gasification plant in Indonesia which produce ethylene which costs 1.4-1.5 billion. Celanese has previously considered to build the plant in Palembang (South Sumatera) and Bontang (East Kalimantan). It had signed memorandum of agreement (MoE) with state oil and gas company PT Pertamina.

Celanese is a global leader in vinyl acetate ethylene emulsions. The company manufactures these high-performance emulsions in all three major regions of the world at facilities throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
