JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Anas Urbaningrum, 45, graft convict and former Chairman of SBY’s Democratic Party, has been removed from the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) detention center in Jakarta to the Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java, Wednesday (June 17).
Anas, as reported earlier, has received heavier jail sentence from the Supreme Court (MA). The Court earlier rejected Anas’ appeal and dropped heavier jail sentence the politician from 7 to 14 years in prison.
In addition, the Court ordered Anas to pay Rp5 billion in fine or serve 16 months additional imprisonment. The Court also ordered Anas to pay Rp57.5 billion in substitution to the State losses or serve 4 years additional jail term.
Furthermore, the Court also decided to revoke Anas’ political rights to be elected in any election of public position in the country.
Anas himself has stated that he will file a case review to challenge the Supreme Court’s verdict. Anas is only one among Democratic Party key leaders that dragged down by corruption case of the controversial Hambalang sport center. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
