JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Commander of the Indonesian Military (TNI) General Moeldoko revealed to the press that he has submitted the draft to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo regarding the reinstatement of the position of the Vice Military Commander.

Moeldoko, moreover, seems confident that President Jokowi will eventually reinstate the Vice Military Commander’s position. He said he’s now waiting the President to issue a Presidential Decree (Keppres) on the matter.

The position of the Vice Military Commander itself once existed during the years of the late President Soeharto.

But since 1999, the late President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) eliminated the Vice Military Commander’s position. And so on, the next two presidents of the Republic, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), maintained Gus Dur’s policy in eliminating said position.
