JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo plans to reduce the budget in several ministries and institutions in the 2016 State budget draft (RAPBN) and to allocate more budget for health and infrastructure sectors.

Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said the government expected that they will get significant additional budget until Rp20 trillion to be allocated for health and infrastructure sectors next year.

According to Andi, said significant additional budget will be redirected to several ministries and institutions related to health and infrastructure sectors such as the Ministry of Public Works & Public Housing, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Fishery & Maritime, and the Ministry of Transportation.

Previously, Jokowi-Kalla administration has already cut off fuel subsidies in the 2015 revised State budget (APBN-P). The administration then redirected the budget from fuel subsidies on productive spending, including Rp37.27 trillion capital injection (PMN) to state companies (BUMN). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
