JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has sworn in Vice Admiral Desi Albert Mamahit as the Chief of the newly Sea Security Body (Bakamla) at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (May. 27).
President Jokowi also issued a Presidential Decree No. 45/M/2015 on the appointment of DA Mamahit as the Chief of the Bakamla.
The Bakamla is a new body established by President Jokowi to support his dream in making Indonesia as the world’s maritime axis. The Bakamla will be responsible directly to the President.
Previously, the Bakamla was known as the Sea Security Coordinating Body (Bakorkamla), a body under a supervision of the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, Security Affairs.
Desi Albert Mamahit was born in Bandung, West Java, on Dec. 22, 1959. Prior to the appointment, he served as Rector of the Defense University. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
