JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo stated that the government rejected a plan initiated by some political parties at the House of Representatives (DPR) to revise the Regional Election Law No. 1/2015.
Furthermore, Minister Tjaho, who is also politician from PDI-P, stated that the government also rejected a plan from some political parties at the DPR to amend the Law No. 2/2011 regarding the amendment of the Political Party Law No. 2/2008.
Tjahjo said that the government worried that the amendment plan on said two laws will merely create new political turbulence that might hampered the implementation of the 2015 simultaenous regional elections.
The plan to amend the Regional Election and Political Party laws was, among others, voiced by Fadli Zon, deputy speaker of the DPR and politician from Gerindra Party. Gerindra is one of members of the Red-and-White opposition group (KMP).
Fadli said the amendment of said two articles is necessary needed to make sure two political parties, Golkar and PPP, can participate in the simultaneous regional elections this year. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
