JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has just sworn in Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as the new chief of the National Police in an inauguration ceremony at the State Palace, Friday (Apr. 17) morning.
Badrodin earlier secured an approval for becoming the new police chief from the House of Representatives (DPR) in the House plenary session on Thursday (Apr. 16).
Born in Paleran, Umbulsari, Jember, East Java, on Jul. 24, 1958, Badrodin graduated from the Police Academy in 1982. He was awarded with the Adhi Makayasa medal as the best graduate. He has one wife, Tejaningsih Haiti, and two children (Farouq Ashadi Haiti and Fakhri Subhana Haiti).
Prior to the inauguration, Badrodin served as the police deputy chief. Previously, he has also held several strategic positions in the police institution, among others, as chief of the National Police Security Maintenance Agency, Operational Assistance of Chief of the National Police, chief of the National Police’s Legal Division, and 1st director at the National Police’s Detective Division.
Badrodin also ever served as chief of the North Sumatra Police office, chief of the Central Sulawesi Police office, and chief of the Banten Police office. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
