JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is expected to question Suryadharma Ali, former minister of Religious Affairs and former chairman of PPP, as a suspect of haj graft case, Friday (Apr. 10).

KPK’s Spokesperson Johan Budi SP confirmed to the press that the questioning session of Suryadharma has been scheduled this morning. But Johan has not yet revealed on whether or not KPK will detain Suryadharma after the questioning.

Suryadharma has earlier failed to answer KPK’s calls of questioning for twice. At that time, Suryadharma argued that he has still been waiting to the results of a pre-trial petition that he filed against KPK’s decision on naming him as a graft suspect.

But the South Jakarta District Court, in its verdict on Wednesday (Apr. 8), rejected Suryadharma’s pre-trial petition.

Suryadharma has been named as a graft suspect since May. 22, 2014. KPK has charged Suryadharma with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 65 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
