JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Judge Tati Hadiati of the South Jakarta District Court has rejected a pre-trial petition filed by Suryadharma Ali, graft suspect and former minister of Religious Affairs, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

In the Wednesday’s (Apr. 8) verdict trial, judge Tati said KPK’s decision to name someone as a graft suspect is not an object of a pre-trial accordance to the Criminal Code Procedures (KUHAP).

Back in May. 22, 2014, KPK has named Suryadharma, also former PPP Chairman, as a suspect in the haj graft case. KPK charged Suryadharma with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 65 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).

Previously, judge Sarpin Rizaldi of the South Jakarta District Court ruled in favor of Budi Gunawan in a pre-trial petition against the KPK. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
