JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Ten factions of political parties at the House of Representatives (DPR) have different responses over the nomination of Police Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as the new Chief of the National Police.
PDI-P, the main political party in the Great Indonesia ruling coalition (KMP), has further criticized President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s decision to withdraw Budi Gunawan’s nomination and nominating Badrodin instead.
Similar criticism is also voiced by political parties at the Red-and-White opposition group (KMP), especially Gerindra and PKS. According to Fadli Zon of Gerindra Party, President Jokowi’s letter regarding Badrodin’s nomination will be soon discussed in the House Consultative Body (Bamus).
The Democratic Party, meanwhile, supported Badrodin Haiti’s nomination. Nasdem and Hanura Party also earlier declared their supports to Badrodin.
Last month, President Jokowi dediced to withdraw Budi Gunawan’s nomination following rejection from civil society and anti-corruption activists. Instead, the President nominated Badrodin as the new Police Chief.
Accordance to the National Police Law No. 2/2002, Badrodin’s nomination should get an approval from the DPR. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
