JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Domestic cement sales reached 4.13 million tons in February 2014, fell 8.2% from 4.5 million in January 2015, mainly due to rain factor and no execution of government’s infrastructure projects.
Cement sales in Sumatera fell 10.7% to 864,000 tons and cement sales in Java declined 7.7% to 2.2 million tons. In Kalimantan, cement sales dropped 8.7% to 320,000 tons and cement sales in Sulawesi fell 8.5% to 312,000 tons.
For Bali and Nusa Tenggara, cement sales was cut by 14.1% to 264,000 tons. While for Papua and Maluku, cement sales rose 3.3% to 95,000 tons.
Total national cement consumption was 62 million tons during 2014, including 2 million tons of imported cement. For this year, both cement sales and demand are expected to grow by 5.6%
