JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation (Bareskrim Polri) has sent a legal notice against the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) which concluded the Police to have committed abuse of power in the arrestment of Bambang Widjojanto, former Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Kompas.com reported.

Kompas.com reported that the Police has sent its legal notice against the Komnas HAM on Feb. 8, 2015 through the Law Firm of Yunadi & Associates.

Commenting to Police’s legal notice, Komnas HAM Commissioner Siti Noor Laila believed that her institution has conducted investigation into Bambang Widjojanto case accordance to the laws.

Siti Said Komnas HAM will not be reactive over the legal notice and just waiting further development.

As reported earlier, Bambang Widjojanto has been named as suspect by the Bareskrim related to the post-election dispute of Kotawaringin Barat regency. He was detained for two days before being released on Sunday.

Bambang then filed a report to Komnas HAM regarding harsh treatment from police officers during his arrest. He told Komnas HAM that he was handcuffed and verbally assaulted in front of his 10-year-old son, Muhammad Yattaqi. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
