Japan’s Nikkei share average rose to a fresh 15-year high on Friday as encouraging comments from the European Central Bank lifted sentiment, Reuters reported. Most Asian shares also gained.
The ECB raised growth and inflation targets and announced it would start its government bond-buying program of 60 billion euros a month on March 9.
Astra International gained 2.87%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia rose 1.75%, Bank Negara Indonesia increased 1.5%, Kalbe Farma climbed 2.2%, Lippo Karawaci hiked 1.3%, Perusahaan Gas Negara lifted 1.41%, and Telkom up 2.58%.
Global Mediacom jumped 5.29%, Media Nusantara Citra gained 1.33%, and Matahari Putra Prima rose 1.1%.
While Adaro Energy fell 1.9%, Bumi Serpong Damai declined 2.34%, London Sumatra lost 1.83%, and Pakuwon Jati shed 1.92%.
Nymex’s crude oil gained 0.59% to US$51.06 per barrel while gold retreated 0.31% to US$1,192.50 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened to Rp12,983 against the US dollar.
