JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) revealed on Monday (March 2) that February 2015 deflation was 0.36%, compared to 0.24% deflation in January 2015.
Then, year to date deflation is 0.61%. Compared to February 2014, year on year inflation is 6.29%.
The deflation in February was affected by the fuel prices decline, lower tariff of city transportation, and chili price decline.
Of total 82 cities, 70 cities recorded deflation, highest deflation occurred in Bukit Tinggi (2.35%) while the lowest deflation occurred in Jayapura (0.04%).
While 12 cities recorded inflation, highest at Tual (3.2%) and lowest at Manokwari (0.04%).
The deflation was contributed by staple food (1.47%) and transport-communication-financial services (1.53%).
While the inflation came from processed food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco (0.45%), housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel (0.41%), clothing (0.52%), health (0.39%), and education, recreation, and sport (0.14%).
