JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Supreme Court (MA) has on Thursday (Feb. 26) dropped heavier jail sentence from 5 to 7 years to Tubagus Chaeri Wardana aka Wawan, graft convict and brother of non-active Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah, Detik.com reported.

Wawan was proven guilty for bribing Akil Mochtar, the former Chief of the Constitutional Court and another suspect in the case, with Rp1 billion cash money to favor the ruling of the Constitutional Court to the pair of Amir Hamzah-Kasmin, the losing pair candidate in Lebak regency election.

Wawan, who is also politician from Golkar Party, has earlier been sentenced with 5 years in jail, lighter than the demand from KPK’s prosecutors of 10 years imprisonment.

In addition, Wawan has been also ordered to pay Rp150 million in fine or to serve an additional three months in jail. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
