JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Judicial Commission (KY) has kicked off investigation into allegation of ethical violation committed by Judge Sarpin Rizaldi when handling a pre-trial petition filed by Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The Judicial Commission is expected to summon KPK leaders and their lawyers for questioning next Monday (Mar. 2).
The Commission is also expected to summon the Chief of the South Jakarta District Court Haswandi for questioning related to the change of judge that handling Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial petition just before the trial begun. Several staffs of the South Jakarta District Court will also be summoned for questioning.
Previously, the Commission has questioned Bernard Arief Sidharta, a Professor of Law from the Parahyangan University on Wednesday. Bernard was an expert witness during the trial of Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial petition.
As reported earlier, Judge Sarpin Rizaldi, the presiding judge of Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial petition, concluded that KPK’s decision on naming Budi Gunawan as a graft suspect is baseless and illegitimate. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
