JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Benedict Bingham, IMF Senior Resident Representative, urges the government of Indonesia to have strategic priorities amid the current global and regional challenges.

In the CFO Summit recently held in Jakarta, Benedict shared IMF’s view on the Indonesia economic outlook under the leadership of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

He noted that President Jokowi has connected the position of Indonesia on the context of regional and global.

But Benedict explained that the economic growth in Indonesia has still many challenges.

He said the global economy will not be supportive for the Indonesia economic development while the new government inherits a slowing economy.

Other challenges are the long standing external vulnerabilities and the decline in oil prices which will limit fiscal space.

Benedict than suggests the government of Indonesia to have 3 strategic priorities; (1) to have solid macroeconomic foundation, (2) to address vulnerabilities in the financial system, (3) to build confidence in the longer term growth strategy. (rully@yosefardi.biz)
