JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Police and the Prosecutor office have put an ultimatum over graft convict Police Inspector Labora Sitorus to surrender himself on Monday (Feb. 16) to undergo his fifteen years jail term.

Spokesperson of the National Police’s headquarters Insp. Gen. Ronnie Sompie told Kompas.com that the prosecutor office has an authority to pick up Labora with force should the graft convict does not have a good will to surrender.

As reported earlier, the Supreme Court (MA) has handed down heavier jail sentence to Labora from eight to fifteen years casino imprisonment as he was proven guilty of commiting graft and money laundering acts related to suspected transactions in his bank accounts from his businesses on illegal logging and smuggling fuel subsidies. The Supreme Court also ordered Labora to pay Rp5 billion in fine or serve additional one year imprisonment.

Previously, Labora was reportedly disappeared from the Sorong detention center in West Papua. The police and the prosecutor office then listed Labora’s name in the most wanted list (DPO) as his whereabouts is unknown.

But later, the police confirmed Labora’s whereabouts at his own private residence in Sorong. Labora, however, refused to return to the detention center to finish his jail term. He claimed that he has secured an official letter that released him from jail. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
