JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has on Wednesday (Feb. 11) questioned graft suspect and former Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) Jero Wacik related to further investigation into the graft scandals at the ESDM Ministry.
Jero has been questioned as a witness for Waryono Karno, former Secretary General of the ESDM Ministry and suspect in the case. Last week, Jero failed to answer the first call from the KPK.
Waryono was named as graft suspect since Jan. 16, 2014, following the finding of US$200,000 fund at Waryono’s office in August 2013.
Waryono were facing two different cases. First, Waryono is alleged to make the state suffering loss of Rp11 billion from graft practices in several projects at the ESDM Ministry.
KPK charged Waryono with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). Second, Waryono is also alleged of receiving gratification, violating Article 12 letter b and or Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law.
Jero Wacik, meanwhile, has been also named as graft suspect since Sep. 3, 2014. The KPK alleged Jero for collecting Rp9.9 billion illicit money during his tenure as Energy Minister. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
