JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Spokesperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Johan Budi SP stated that KPK will wait the results of the pre-trial lawsuit of graft suspect Budi Gunawan before resuming further investigation into the case implicating the three-star police general.

The trial of Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial lawsuit is expected to be held again this morning (Feb. 10) at the South Jakarta District Court after being postponed for twice.

Budi Gunawan has demanded the court to cancel KPK’s decision that named him as graft suspect. KPK, meanwhile, hopes the court will reject Budi Gunawan’s pre-trial lawsuit.

As reported earlier, KPK has named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect related to suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi Gunawan’s bank accounts and also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel.

KPK charged the new Police Chief nominee with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Latest, KPK summoned six high-ranking police officers as witnesses in the case. But only one out of those six officers who answered KPK’s summon. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
