JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Flood, triggered by overflow from rivers in the city following heavy rain since Sunday (Feb. 8) and poor drainage system, have paralyzed the capital city on Monday (Feb. 9).

The Jakarta Polices Traffic Management Center (TMC) reported that the height of floods on Jakarta’s roads is between 20 to 60 centimeters, while in some residential areas the flood reaches as high as 80 centimeters.

In the meantime, the water level at the Karet sluice gate in Central Jakarta has reportedly reached until 650 centimeters, far from water level of 380-400 centimeters in a normal condition.

The water level at the Manggarai sluice gate in South Jakarta, meanwhile, has reached 817 centimeters. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
