JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Syafii Maarif, the Head of the so-called Team Nine established by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to resolve KPK-Police conflict, mentioned two more names as alternative candidates for becoming the new Chief of the National Police, Kompas.com reported.
Those two names are Comr. Gen. Saud Usman Nasution and Comr. Gen. Suhardi Alius.
Saud Usman is now serving as the Chief of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT). Prior to the position, Saud served as Chief of the South Sumatra Police office (2013) and the Deputy Chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation (2012).
Suhardi Alius, meanwhile, is serving as Secretary of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas) after recently being removed from the position of the Chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation.
The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) earlier has nominated four new names of Police Chief candidates should President Jokowi cancel Budi Gunawan’s nomination. They are Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti, Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso. Comr. Gen. Putut Eko Bayuseno, and Comr. Gen. Dwi Priyatno. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
