JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Bambang Widjojanto, the Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has strongly suggested President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to crosscheck the wealth report (LHKPN) of each candidate of the new Chief of the National Police.
Bambang said the crosscheck is crucial in order to find the best nominee of the new Police Chief.
Bambang, however, lets the decision to either crosscheck, or not, the wealth report of each Police Chief candidate to President Jokowi.
As reported earlier, President Jokowi is expected to announce his decision on the fate of the nomination of graft suspect Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as new Police Chief next week.
Several figures close to President Jokowi have confirmed that the President will cancel Budi Gunawan’s nomination. They are, among others, Syafii Maarif and Jimly Asshiddiqie, members of the Team Nine established by Jokowi.
Apart from Syafii and Jimly, the National Police Commission (Komplonas) also confirmed Jokowi might not inaugurate Budi Gunawan and propose new Police Chief candidate to the House of Representatives (DPR). The Kompolnas itself has submitted 4-5 new names of Police Chief candidates to Jokowi. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
