JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto revealed that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has repeatedly asked graft suspect Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan to withdraw from his nomination as new Chief of the National Police.

Andi Widjajanto confirmed this to journalists at the State Palace on Wednesday (Feb. 4) noon.

Andi said President Jokowi has already asked Budi Gunawan to withdraw since the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named the three-star police general as a graft suspect. Andi, however, said Budi Gunawan refused the President’s request.

Budi Gunawan’s side, however, has yet made any confirmation over Andi Widjajanto’s statements. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
