JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – State Secretary Minister Pratikno shared his beliefs that the recent conflict between the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will be soon resolved should Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan withdraw from his nomination as new Chief of the National Police, Kompas.com reported.

Pratikno also hinted that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo may soon take his decision on the fate of Budi Gunawan’s nomination.

Previously, a team of independent figures called Team Nine that established by President Jokowi also suggested Budi Gunawan to withdraw from police chief’s nomination.

Budi Gunawan has been named as graft suspect by the KPK related to suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi Gunawan’s bank accounts and also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel.

KPK charged Budi Gunawan with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

The House of Representatives (DPR), meanwhile, accepted Budi Gunawan’s nomination as the new Police Chief.
