JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, through his lawyers, delivered his confidence that panel of judges will accept his pre-trial lawsuit and order the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to cancel its decision on naming him as a graft suspect.

Budi Gunawan, the nominee of the Chief of the National Police, however, will not attend the pre-trial.

The pre-trial of Budi Gunawan against KPK is scheduled to be started at around 9:00 am of Jakarta time, held at the South Jakarta District Court with Sarpin Rizaldi as the presiding judge.

As reported earlier, KPK named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect related to suspected transactions found in his bank accounts. KPK has blocked Budi Gunawan’s bank accounts and also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel.

Budi Gunawan, meanwhile, filed a pre-trial motion against KPK’s decision. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
