JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto revealed on Friday (Jan. 30) regarding the upcoming consultative meeting between the House leaders and President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo next week to discuss the candidate of new National Police chief.
The Golkar Party politician said the consultative meeting is scheduled for Feb. 2, 2015. Novanto, however, said President Jokowi has not yet submitted new name of Police Chief candidate.
As reported earlier, the DPR has accepted the nomination of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan as new Police Chief as proposed by President Jokowi.
The President, however, has decided to postpone Budi Gunawan’s inauguration following the decision from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to name the three-star police general as a graft suspect.
The KPK as well as the people suggested the President to cancel Budi Gunawan’s nomination and submitted a better candidate to the DPR for becoming new Police Chief. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
