JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation (Bareskrim Polri) has named the Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Bambang Widjojanto as suspect in the case related to post-election dispute of Kotawaringin Barat regency back in 2010.
The National Police’s Spokesperson Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie explained that the Bareskrim Polri has investigated the case since Jan. 15, 2015 based on public report received by the Bareskrim.
According to Ronny, Bambang is allegedly involved in falsifying testimony to the Constitutional Court during the trial of Kotawaringin Barat post-election dispute. He said the Bareskrim has collected enough evidences to name Bambang as suspect in the case.
On the other side, KPK, meanwhile, has asked the Bareskrim Polri to release Bambang.
As reported earlier, the Bareskrim Polri has arrested Bambang on Friday (Jan. 23) morning. Previously, KPK has named Police Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, a nominee of new Police Chief, as a graft suspect related to suspicious transactions in his bank accounts. Budi, however, has denied all allegations made against him.
