JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended higher 0.95% to 5215 on Wednesday (Jan 21), with the buying intensifying during the afternoon trade. The index closed flat at morning session.

Asian shares hit a six-week high on Wednesday as investors counted on the European Central Bank to unveil a stimulus drive, Reuters reported.

Adaro Energy gained 2.55%, Astra International rose 3%, and Bank Mandiri increased 2.09%.

Multipolar surged 11.94%, Matahari Putra Prima climbed 3.39%, Media Nusantara Citra jumped 6.28%, Global Mediacom hiked 2.37%, Hanson International lifted 2.24%, and Visi Media climbed 4.78%.

While Bank Tabungan Negara dropped 8.18%, Inovisi lost 8.77%, Bumi Resources shed 2.94%, and BW Plantation slashed 3.6%.

Nymex’s crude oil inched down 0.09% to US$46.35 per barrel while gold rose 0.4% to US$1,299.50 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened to Rp12,557 against the US dollar.
