JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has on Monday (Jan. 19), summoned witnesses in order to complete the dossier of graft suspect Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan before sending the case that implicating the elected Police Chief to the Jakarta Corruption Court for trial.

KPK’s Spokesperson Priharsa Nugraha told journalists that KPK has summoned two witnesses for Monday’s questioning.

That two witnesses questioned are Brig. Gen. Herry Prastowo, Director of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Bareskrim) for General Crimes, and Sr. Comr. Ibnu Isticha, a lecturer at the Institute of National Police Science (STIK).

As reported earlier, KPK has named Budi Gunawan as graft suspect since Tuesday (Jan. 13) over suspected transactions found in the bank accounts belonging to him. KPK charged Budi with Article 12 letter a or b, Article 5 Paragraph 2, and Article 11 or 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 point 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

KPK also asked the Immigration office to ban Budi altogether with his son, Muhammad Herviano Widyatama, from overseas travel. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
