Indonesian authorities have confirmed that Malawian citizen Namaona Dennis has been executed in the Nusakambangan Island, Central Java half hour after the midnight on Sunday morning.
Namaona Dennis is among six convicts, including one Indonesian citizen, executed by firing squad after Indonesian president denied their request for clemency.
Married to Dewi Retno Atik, an Indonesian, Namaona Dennis had served 14 years prison for drug trafficking. Dewi expressed her disappointment to President Joko Widodo, arguing her husband was just a courier.
Tangerang District Court in Banten Province sentenced to death Dennis on September 4, 2001 for smuggling 1000 grams of heroin.
