JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Pol. Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, the sole candidate of the Chief of the National Police, as a suspect in the so-called fat bank accounts case.
In a press briefing on Tuesday (Jan. 13), KPK Chief Abraham Samad revealed KPK has found two evidences to name Budi as suspect.
Abraham said KPK has investigated the case since July 2014. He said KPK found suspicious transactions in Budi Gunawan’s bank account when the latter served as Chief of the National Police’s Career Coaching.
As reported earlier, Budi Gunawan has been nominated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as the sole candidate for becoming the new Chief of the National Police to replace Gen. Sutarman. The President has submitted Budi Gunawan’s name to the House of Representatives (DPR) on Jan. 9, 2015.
Budi Gunawan’s nomination, however, has drawn criticism from the public. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.
