JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) has put sanction on 6 tire makers proven to have built the cartel for tire business in the country, violating article 5 of the Law number 5, Year 1999 regarding the Anti Monopoly.
Two listed companies, PT Gajah Tunggal (GJTL) and PT Goodyear Indonesia (GDYR) are among the said companies. Other 4 companies are PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia, PT Sumi Rubber Indonesia, PT Elang Perdana Tyre Industry, and PT Industri Karet Deli.
KPPU then imposed Rp25 billion fine in maximum to the said companies. They are proven to have enjoyed the tire cartel in the country during the period of 2009-2012. They have in tandem held the production and determined the prices, including slamming the prices.
