JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan firmly stated that the data from the black box flight recorders of crashed AirAsia QZ8501 must be revealed in Jakarta. Jonan said that eventhough QZ8501 is belonged to Malaysian airline, the investigation into the crashed plane is under the authority of Indonesian government.
Jonan said the National Commission for Transportation Safety (KNKT) will lead the investigation to read the data from the QZ8501’s black box soon after the black box is found. As reported earlier, the Chief of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Air Vice Marshal FH Bambang Soelistyo, revealed about the finding of the QZ8501’s tail location in the seabed of the Java Sea in Karimata Strait, of south Kalimantan.
The Basarnas along with the Navy (TNI AL) has deployed a unit of divers to the location. The Basarnas and the Navy, however, have yet assured that the black box is still in the crashed plane’s tail. The Basarnas and the Navy, however, have yet confirmed the whereabouts of QZ8501’s black box, whether or not the black box is still in the crashed plane’s tail.
The black box is a vital and important equipment to help crash investigators finding out what happened with such an airline just before the crash. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
