JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The newly Vice Governor of Jakarta Djarot Syaiful Hidayat revealed the capital city administration’s plan to reimpose a moratorium on issuing more permits to mini-markets in the city.

Djarot, moreover, also revealed his plan to evaluate the permits of the existing mini-markets. He said he has ordered district and sub-district heads to collect the data of all mini-markets.

The PDI-P politician said he’s not hesitant to close down mini-market that violate the rule.

Organizations of small and medium enterprises (UMKM) and traditional traders, meanwhile, supported Djarot’s plan.

The moratorium of minimarket was first enforced in 2006 through gubernatorial decree No. 115/2006. The moratorium, however, was canceled in 2012. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
