JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has finally detained Waryono Karno, former Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM), after almost a year named as graft suspect in the scandal at the ESDM Ministry and the powerful Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (SKK Migas).
KPK’s Spokesperson Johan Budi SP revealed on Thursday (Dec. 18) night that KPK detained Waryono for next 20 days at Guntur detention center.
As reported earlier, KPK has named Waryono Karno as graft suspect since Jan. 16, following the finding of US$200,000 fund at Waryono’s office in August 2013.
Waryono were facing two different cases. First, Waryono allegedly caused the state to lose Rp11 billion from graft practices in several projects at ESDM Ministry. KPK charged Waryono with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
Second, Waryono also allegedly received gratification, violating Article 12 letter b and or Article 11 of the Anti-Corruption Law. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
