JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Deputy Chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Busyro Muqoddas revealed on Wednesday (Nov. 26) that KPK has resumed new investigation into a graft case of the haj pilgrimage fund, implicating former Religious Minister and former PPP Chairman Suryadharma Ali, Kompas.com reported.

Busyro, however, said that the new investigation has not yet led KPK to name new suspect in the case.

As reported earlier, KPK has named Suryadharma as suspect in the haj graft case on May 22 that forced Suryadharma to resign from the position of Religious Minister.

KPK has charged Suryadharma with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 of the Anti-Corruption Law juncto Article 65 of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP). KPK might also charge Suryadharma with the Anti-Money Laundering Law.

KPK also imposed an overseas travel ban to Suryadharma for six months. That said, KPK has not yet detained Suryadharma. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
