JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – National media widely reported on Friday (Nov. 21) that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has appointed Garuda Food executive Franky Sibarani as new Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) but no confirmation yet from the State Palace.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, as quoted by Detik.com, confirmed that President Jokowi has already had the name of New BKPM Head in his hand. Andi, however, was reluctant to disclose the name.
According to Andi, new BKPM Head will be sworn in next week at the State Palace, Jakarta.
If confirmed, Franky Sibarani will fill the position of BKPM Head, left by Mahendra Siregar, who resigned from the position since Oct. 2.
Franky Sibarani is currently listed as an executive at Garuda Food, a business group owned by Sudhamek AWS. Franky also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) led by Sofjan Wanandi.
During the 2014 presidential election, Franky was a member of Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla’s campaign team. (haryantosuharman@yosefardi.com)
