JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri has appointed Hasto Kristiyano as an acting Secretary General of PDI-P replacing Tjahjo Kumolo, who has resigned from the party after appointed by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as new Minister of Home Affairs.
Tjahjo confirmed Hasto’s appointment on Friday (Oct. 31). According to Tjahjo, the appointment was taken in the meeting held on Thursday (OCt. 30).
Born in Sleman, Yogyakarta, on July 7, 1966, Hasto Kristiyanto, a Catholic, served as PDI-P’s Deputy Secretary General prior to the appointment.
Hasto graduated from Chemical Engineering Department of the Yogyakarta’s Gadjah Mada University (UGM), the almamater of President Jokowi.
During the 2014 presidential campaign, Hasto was one among Jokowi’s Spokespersons. Latest, he was one of four deputies assisting Rini Mariani Soemarno in Jokowi’s Transition Team. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
