JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The watchdog group Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has urged President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to soon appointing new Attorney General replacing Basrief Arief (67), who has entered his mandatory retirement age.

Emerson Yuntho from the ICW, as quoted by Kompas on Friday (Oct. 31), reminded President Jokowi about the urgency of appointing Basrief’s successor to start the anti-corruption and the law enforcement movement proclaimed by the President during the presidential campaign.

Until the 12th day of his presidency, Jokowi has not yet appointed the new Attorney General.

According to newly-appointed Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto, President has still considered five names of Attorney General candidates.

Andi, to Tempo, mentioned that that five candidates are;
1) Muhammad Yusuf, Chief of the Indonesian Financial Transaction Report & Analysis Center (PPATK)
2) Hamid Awaluddin, former Minister of Law & Human Rights
3) Mas Achmad Santosa, former Deputy Chief of the Anti-Graft Commission KPK and former member of President SBY’s Judicial Mafia Eradication Task Force
4) Widyo Pramono (Chief of the Attorney General Office’s for Special Crimes)
5) Andhi Nirwanto, the Deputy Attorney General. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
