JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The establishment of 11 working commissions and other bodies within the House of Representatives (DPR), collectively known as AKD (Alat Kelengkapan Dewan), and the election process of its leadership also deadlocked further after ten factions of political parties failed to reach the agreement.

In the House plenary session on Thursday (Oct. 23), five factions, joining the ruling coalition (KIH) have not yet submitted lists of lawmakers for each working commission and other legislative bodies. That five members of KIH are PDI-P, PKB, Nasdem, Hanura, and PPP.

PDI-P politician Pramono Anung explained that five members of KIH have not yet submitted their lists as they want to reach an agreement first with five other factions from the Red-and-White coalition on the mechanism to elect the leadership of AKD.

KIH’s members want the mechanism of the election to follow the proportional system wherein each faction ought to get proportional seats for the leadership of the AKD.

While the Red-and-White coalition, comprising of Gerindra, Golkar, SBY’s Democratic Party, PAN, and PKS, insists to conduct the election today even though KIH’s members would not participate.

Five members of the Red-and-White coalition have submitted their lists of lawmakers for each working commission and other legislative bodies in the House plenary session on Wednesday. They have forced to adopt the package selection system as mechanism of the leadership election for AKD.

The Red-and-White coalition is currently a majority forces at the DPR with 313 out of 560 total seats (55.9%), far above KIH with only 247 seats (44.1%). (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
