JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended lower 0.2% to 5029 on Tuesday (October 21) but trade was very volatile.

The index gained 0.25% at opening trade in the morning but then turned to negative territory during all the day. The index reached its lowest at 5016 but it cut losses since mid afternoon trade.

Asian share markets also closed mostly lower, while the brighter China data failed to lift stocks.

Astra International fell 1.52%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia declined 1.17%, BW Plantation shed 1.67%, London Sumatra slashed 1.69%, Matahari Putra Prima dropped 2.76%, and Bumi Resources Minerals down 2.39%.

While Adaro Energi gained 1.56%, Waskita Karya rose 2.16%, Global Mediacom increased 1.59%, Multipolar jumped 5.03%, and Pakuwon Jati climbed 1.4%.

Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.56% to US$82.37 per barrel and gold rose 0.55% to US$1,251.50 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened to Rp11,993 against the US dollar.
