JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) gained 1.56% to close at 5028 Friday (October 17) as the meeting of President-elect Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and former presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto spurred the buying in local stocks.

The meeting of this 2 figures is indeed very positive for the political situation during new president era. Prabowo congratulated Jokowi in advance for his inauguration on Monday, Oct 20, though Prabowo insisted his coalition continues to criticize and to supervise the ruling government.

Investors focused buying blue chip stocks. Astra International gained 3.15%, Bank Rakyat Indonesia surged 4.65%, and Jababeka climbed 3.89%.

Property stocks also surged such as Alam Sutera (+7.27%), Bumi Serpong Damai (+3.01%), and Lippo Karawaci (+5.64%). Plantation stocks BW Plantation lifted 4.39% and London Sumatra jumped 6.57%.

Other gainers were Adhi Karya (+3.88%), Waskita Karya (+2.2%), Wijaya Karya (+2.5%), and Pakuwon Jati (+5.49%).

Nymex’s crude oil increased 0.36% to US$83 per barrel while gold declined 0.18% to US$1,239 per ounce. The rupiah weakened to Rp12,222 against the US dollar.
