JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – As part of fleet revitalization program, flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIAA) will be replacing its current Boeing 737-800NG (B737-800NG) aircraft with the latest type of narrow body airplane; the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

This revitalization program is due to the end of the lease term for the airline’s existing 12-year-average B737-800NG aircraft.

The airline is carrying out its fleet revitalization program through the natural replacement of its existing B737-800NG aircraft with 50 brand new B737 MAX 8 aircraft, following the deal that was recently signed between Garuda and Boeing in September 2014.

Garuda will take delivery of its new B737 MAX 8 aircraft in stages, starting from 2017 through to 2023.
