JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned graft suspect Jero Wacik, a key leader from President SBY’s Democratic Party, for a questioning on Thursday (Oct. 9) in an extortion case during his tenure as Minister of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM).

This is the first questioning for Jero Wacik in his status as suspect in the case. KPK, however, has yet revealed on whether or not it will detain Jero after questioning him.

Jero also failed to be sworn in as lawmaker at the House of Representatives (DPR) for 2014-2019 period due to his status as graft suspect.

KPK has alleged Jero for collecting Rp9.9 billion illicit money through extortion practices, mark up, etc during his tenure at the ESDM Ministry.

Previously, KPK had questioned Jero Wacik as witness on July 16 on the suspicion related to several procurement projects in the ESDM Ministry since 2010.

KPK had also questioned Jero as witness related to investigation into graft scandals at the powerful Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (SKK Migas) implicating former SKK Migas Head Rudi Rubiandini. (haryantos@yosefardi.biz)
