JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – Composite index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) ended higher 0.65% to 5032 Tuesday (October 7), led by gains in blue chip stocks.

Astra International gained 1.12%, Alam Sutera rose 1.61%, Bank Central Asia increased 1.42%, Vale Indonesia hiked 1.22%, and Lippo Karawaci lifted 3.87%.

Other gainers were Adhi Karya (+1.74%), Waskita Karya (+1.84%), Wijaya Karya (+2.61%), Multipolar (+2.04%), Global Mediacom (+4.44%), MNC Investama (+2.37%), Hanson International (+1.61%), and Berau Coal (+3.64%).

While Bumi Resources dropped 16.32% to Rp159 with over 85 million shares exchanged hands. Investors sold off shares of giant coal miner PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) after resuming trading today, related to its rights issue plan.

Investors also sold off shares of PT BW Plantation Tbk (BWPT) on concern over the company’s rights issue for 27.02 billion new shares at substantial discount to acquire plantation assets of Rajawali Corpora. BWPT lost 12.71% to Rp515 with over 25 million shares traded.

Nymex’s crude oil declined 0.44% to US$89.94 per barrel while gold increased 0.13% to US$1,208.90 per ounce. The rupiah strengthened to Rp12,190 against the US dollar.
