JAKARTA (Yosefardi) – The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has submitted four candidates for new Chief of National Police to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
According to Commissioner of Kompolnas Hamidah Abdurrahman, as quoted in the Kompolnas official site, the four candidates of new Chief of National Police are;
Chief of National Police Detective (Bareskrim) Comr. Gen. Sutarman
Chief of National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Comr. Gen. Anang Iskandar
Head of National Police Information Technology Division Brig. Gen. Tubagus Anis Angkawijaya
Chief of Jakarta Police Insp. Gen. Putut Eko Bayuseno.
Those four names were named after Kompolnas made assessment on track records of 11 police generals considered as potential successors to replace the current Chief of National Police Gen. Timur Pradopo.
Hamidah said four candidates are required to report their own wealth to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) this week before being summoned by President SBY.
SBY later will choose one name and propose to the House of Representatives (DPR), then DPR will hold a fit and proper test over the candidates.
The elected new Chief of National Police will be announced on August 2013 to replace Timur Pradopo. Actually, Timur will just enter his retirement mandatory age on January 10, 2014. But SBY stated that he wants to make the change in the top position of the National Police this year along with the change in the position of Military Commander.
Name of Putut Eko Bayuseno has been repeatedly tipped as the strongest candidate to be the new Chief of National Police because his close relationship with SBY and the First family. Bayuseno was known as former adjutant of President SBY. While Priyo Budi Santoso, Deputy House Speaker and senior politician from Golkar Party, has expressed his support to Sutarman to replace Timur Pradopo.
